“Ruck to Remember” 5K Ruck March

Carroll P Foster VFW Post 3455 has been a part of our community for over 40 years. Over the years we have sponsored youth programs, helped families in need, and provided Honor Guard services for our departed comrades. Last year, we established a “Ruck to Remember” 5k event to remember our fallen comrades. The event was started to help everyday people realize the burden that our men and women in the service have to carry, and the burden that families carry when they lose a loved one in the line of battle. Participants may carry a 35-pound backpack, just like our service men and women, 5 kilometers to feel a fraction of the weight of that burden. Some used this opportunity as a moment of reflection.

Memorial Day, May 27th 2019 participants will have two options; participants can choose to walk and reflect on their own for the 5 kilometers or participants can choose to walk in a formation and call out some of the military’s most popular cadences. Immediately following the Ruck March, the event will continue at Carroll P Foster Post 3455 where Memorial Day services will be conducted, installation of new officers, entertainment by local talent, and a raffle. This year, Ruck to Remember has partnered with Black Diamond Harley Davidson and Black Diamond RV Superstore to raffle off TWO awesome prizes with a total prize package of over twenty-five thousand dollars!

Funds from this event, and the many events Post 3455 hosts, go towards continuing our mission of helping our fellow comrades, supporting families in need, and allowing us the funding to provide Honor Guard services for our fallen comrades.
